PREPARING FOR SURGERY

There is no need blood transfusion during surgery. Make sure also that a family member or companion can get you home when you are discharged and, if necessary, can help a couple of days.
SURGERY AND ANESTHESIA
Mastopexy is performed in an operating room, within a clinic or hospital.
The aesthetic breast surgery is performed under general anesthesia, the patient remained asleep during the operation. Some specific cases can be performed under local anesthesia.
Mastopexy lasts between 1.5 and 3.5 hours. The incisions comprise an area consisting of the breast skin to be removed and placed the nipple and areola into their new higher position. The sutures are placed around the areola, in a vertical line down from the areola and along the groove under the breast. After mastopexy you can return to work within a few days, depending on the activity carried out. Follow the instructions from your surgeon about what exercises you can perform; will avoid lifting over head for 2-3 weeks. Your breasts are more sensitive than normal during 2-3 weeks, so it may be desirable to avoid excessive physical contact until 3 or 4 weeks. Initially the scars will be pink, something that will continuously improve from 6 weeks. Mammographic controls appropriate for each woman according to her age can still be performed.

Mastopexy is a safe procedure if is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. However, as with any operation there can always be complications and risks. Mastopexy leaves permanent and visible scars, though concealable under the bra or bikini. Healing problems are more common in smokers. Some patients may experience a partial reduction, and sometimes total of nipple sensation.
THE RESULTS
It is important to remember that after a mastopexy scars are important and permanent, although your surgeon will strive to be noticed as little as possible. Over time, less scarring will notice. The effects of mastopexy, although durable, are not permanent, depending on factors such as new pregnancies, variations in weight and age. If you placed a prosthesis the effect will be more durable. If your expectations are realistic you will be very satisfied with the result mastopexy.
SUMMARY
A similar breast reduction surgery, is performed in cases where the breast without being excessively large volume, has suffered a major decline. In these cases the resection of tissues is minimal as prey, sometimes with the help of a prosthesis- to give volume and adequate breast screening, once this has been remodeled in its ideal position.
